What's In A Name?

I met a girl named Journey, but she lived too far away
Opal was a gem, but she left me one fine day
Patience, she ran out on me, I never did know why
I was shocked when Raven flew off and said goodbye

Beautiful music was never made with true Harmony
I was never given any time by sweet Charity
Autumn was so beautiful, but for me she did not fall
I realized Joy was never glad to ever see me call

Temperance agreed to date only in moderation
Brandy would only see me if I offered her libation
Julienne had cut my heart into many slices
While Eden was the opposite of Earthly paradises

Serenity made her peace with ending our romance
Destiny left a reunion purely up to chance
Honor always lied to me, of this I was aware
Ivy drove me up a wall, clingy beyond compare

I really thought Eternity would stay with me forever
Faith made me believe that we would always be together
My dating life is such a mess, it really is a shame
It made me stop and start to think, what is in a name?

Prickly

The Hedgehog felt a little down. Lonely, he felt quite sad. Such a friendly and outgoing guy, But hugs he never had. By nature, he was warm-hearted, And loved to talk and chat. But his quills were sharp, so friends stayed far. He couldn't blame them for that. On a walk he saw the Rabbit, Teary and wet-eyed. Rabbit explained he stubbed his toe. "It hurts so much!" he cried. Hedgehog gave his sympathies, And thought a hug would help. But as his spikes stuck Rabbit, He shouted, "Ouch!" and yelped. Rabbit frowned and limped away. Hedgehog then did lament,  "My aim was to give comfort- Pain was never my intent." He could not play with his mates, Not Touch Football nor Tag, Red Rover, Leapfrog, or Hand Clap. And not Capture the Flag. They didn't want to leave him out. They did like him so much. But what else could they do When his body hurt to touch? So Hedgehog would walk b

Swatting at flies, With intense, glaring eyes, In his daydream completely engrossed. "Cats are so weird," Dog simply sneered. Old Cat just shook his old head. "Don't say 'all cats'- We're not all like that. Young Cat's simply, um, spirited." "What can he be thinking?" Dog asked, staring, blinking At Young Cat, with his limbs all askew. Giving shoulders a shrug And

Platypus was in crisis What herself she should be called. Due to many guises, In many classes she did fall. The Platypus scratched her head,  She always thought she knew. But she didn't have an answer When asked, "What are you?" "A Platypus, of course," she laughed. But Muskrat then had said, "But what exactly does that mean?" And she cocked her head. "What does it mean?  What am I?" And now it plagued her so. If she couldn't tell what she was Maybe someone else would know? She found the Duck and waddled up- "Know what a Platypus may be? I'm at a loss and thought you might Have more a clue than me." Duck looked at her and smiled wide- "A kind of duck, I'm sure! You lay eggs and have a bill! You needn't wonder more!" Platypus was glad at first. But it did not take too long Until she started to think and feel Duck was very wrong.
