On the outskirts of a northern state,
There is a special town.
Boo-Ville's not like any place
You've ever been around.
The people are, though quite nice,
Unlike you've ever seen-
They are the types you would meet
only on Halloween!
There is a family we will meet
And their last name is Jones.
They are kind and fun and loving and
Oh! Made out of bones!
Their son, whose name is Mikey,
is a boy about your age.
He is very much like you,
but you see his rib cage.
One Sunday morning, Mikey awoke
And he began to yawn.
But what was this? His arm was missing!
Where could it have gone?
He knew he had it yesterday,
That's how he ate his dinner-
But did he have it before bed?
On that thought things were dimmer.
"I have to go retrace my steps
And think of where I lost it.
If my mother finds this out,
I know she'll have a fit!"
Last night he went to his friend's house
After finishing his meal.
He decided to start there first,
Maybe he would know the deal.
He snuck out the door and down the block,
Looking along the way.
Maybe he dropped it on the ground
As he went out to play?
Mikey hadn't seen it when
He reached his classmate's home.
When his friend's mummy let him in,
He searched but he found none.
Next stop was the Ice Scream Shop
Where the boys went for dessert.
He went up to the server,
a friendly werewolf they called Bert.
Mikey asked, "Did you find an arm
After serving us our cones?"
"Sorry Mikey, I think not-
I have not seen any bones."
The boys had gone to see a show
After eating up their treats.
Mikey traveled to the theater
and searched all around the seats.
He came up empty handed,
But, please excuse the pun-
Mikey had searched all the places
Where the boys had gone.
Mikey dragged the whole way home,
Sad to tell mom and dad
That he had been so careless
As to misplace his left hand.
He decided to come clean
And ask mom and dad for help,
But was stopped from going in the house
By an excited yelp.
It was Mikey's little dog,
A pooch he had named Dale.
The friendly doggy barked and jumped
And wagged his bony tail.
"Not now, boy, I have to tell
mom and dad my arm is lost.
Maybe when I find my arm,
We can give your ball a toss."
But the dog would not give up,
Nipping at his heels.
He wanted Mikey to follow him,
Whining between squeals.
Happy to have a reason to
Put off meeting with his father,
Mikey thought he'd play with Dale
For just a little longer.
He followed Dale to the backyard,
But Dale ran past his toys.
Instead he dug at an old spruce,
Making lots of noise.
When Dale had dug for quite some time,
Mikey became alarmed.
When all of a sudden, from the dirt,
Dale pulled out his arm!
The dog had taken it while he slept
And buried it in the ground.
Mikey was shocked, but relieved
His bones had now been found!
He scolded Dale, but to stay mad
At his little friend was hard.
But from then on his mischievous dog
Had to sleep out in the yard.
